How it works

From not knowing anyone, to having someone to ask.

  1. 01

    Find someone who’s already there

Search by country and field — “biotechnology in South Korea”, “public health in Canada”. See which people from Manipur are actually in that place, at that stage.

  2. 02

    Ask them directly

Message them privately for guidance — how they got in, which scholarship, whether a lab is worth applying to. It’s a conversation, not an application. Emails stay hidden on both sides.

  3. 03

    Or ask the whole community

Post your question in the open, filtered by topic. Someone who’s been through it answers — and the answer stays up for the next hundred students wondering the same thing.

Why this exists

Manipur, glowing at the center of a world map, with threads reaching out to where people from home have ended up: Korea, Germany, Japan, and beyond.

A student in Manipur who wants to study or build a research career, at an IIT or IISc, or abroad, usually has no one to ask. No senior who’s done it, no contact at that institute, no way to know if a scholarship is realistic or a lab is worth the application fee. Most people apply into the dark.

But there are people from Manipur further along: someone doing a funded master’s in biotechnology in Korea, a PhD student in Germany, a research scholar at IISc, a professor in Japan. They can’t admit you or hire you, and that’s not the point. They can tell you how they got in, which programme actually funds its students, whether that supervisor replies to emails, what the first year somewhere new is really like.

ManipurAcademicConnect connects those two people. Find who’s where and in what field, message them privately for guidance, or ask the whole community so the answer helps everyone after you. When someone does have a position or scholarship to fill, they can post it. But the everyday use is simpler: information, and a person to ask.

It’s for everyone from Manipur: valley and hills, every community, every field.

I’ve watched genuinely talented people from home fall through the cracks, not for lack of ability, but for lack of exposure. Nobody told them a scholarship like that existed, or that a lab like that was actually reachable, or that someone from Manipur had already done exactly what they were trying to do. And on the other side, there are people further along who would happily help. They just never had a way to be found by the person who needed them.

This app is that way.
