Privacy Policy

ManipurAcademicConnect is a community directory. This policy explains what we collect and why. It is written to be read, not to be hidden behind.

What we store

• Account details: your email and a hashed password (or a Google sign-in identifier), handled by Firebase Authentication.
• Your profile: everything you enter — name, position, institution, country, field, bio, links, and your Manipur connection if you choose to add it.
• Contact email: stored separately and never shown on your profile. It is used only to forward intro requests to you.
• Messages: intro requests you send or receive.

What other people can see

You control this with the visibility setting: Public (anyone, including search engines), Members only (signed-in users), or Hidden. Your email address is never visible to anyone at any setting.

We never

• Sell or rent your data.
• Show your email or phone number on your profile.
• Require you to state your ethnicity or community.

Your rights

You can edit or hide your profile at any time from your settings, and delete your account and its data by contacting us. We aim to honour deletion requests within 30 days. This service is intended for people aged 16 and over.

Security

Data is held in Google Firebase with access controlled by server-side Security Rules and Firebase App Check. Traffic is encrypted in transit.
